Yesterday was momentarily sunny after a week of cold, wet, windy or otherwise miserable weather so after visiting the farmers market I got to work outside. Of course I had new items to plant. My pocketbook flew open at the sight of these pocketbook plants! I adore calceolaria. Aren't they precious? I must try growing them from seed next year.
I dug out and moved bunch of alliums that I had taken home from work last year and put in, kind of everywhere. They looked stupid - free plants are a big problem in garden design. Now they're on the other side in a group.
This little path I made last year needed widening so I added a few more bricks. It's unfortunate that this is all my garden has to offer in April. Alas, it's partially the fault of my financial state last fall when I might've purchased bulbs to make this early season less barren. Without those chionodoxa (also from work) I'd have nothing but weeds. Hence, I remain grateful for free plants.
