My favorite flower, blooming in my favorite color, in my very own garden!
Apologies for the multitude of exclamation points!!! This is exciting!
The mixed group of Paperver Orientalis, ordered from Bluestone Perennials and planted last year, is thriving and I couldn't be happier! We took a lot of photos as the blooms only last a day or so.
There are two plants with orange blossoms. The one with pale pink had several more flowers and now we're enjoying the handsome seed heads. Since I originally planted 6 plants and now only 3 remain, I think perhaps the two orange are the cultivar called 'Brilliant' and the pink is from the 'Pizzicato mix' (?)
As if that weren't enough, another member of Papaveraceae, the Horned poppy (Glaucium corniculatum) which I grew from seed, is blooming right next to them!
For me, this fleeting moment is pretty close to garden nirvana.
