A new spring project is underway: widening the narrow long border!
With a nifty new edging tool, I sliced through the surrounding lawn, adding about a foot of width. This tool will also help keep the edges clean as the season progresses and the grass sneaks into the bed.
The newest wing of the border was made wider by an old fashioned shovel, prompting the purchase of the edge tool, which I've had my eye on anyway.
The remaining grass is then ripped out by hand and dumped into the overloaded compost heap. Organic matter of all sorts will be added later.
Little guy likes to "help" by sitting in my lap while I'm tearing out lawn.
