Looking forward to more progress shots of the cinder blocks project! Your initial post was in the back of my mind yesterday morning as I assembled a bunch of construction debris just inside my own fence, in Red Hook. I'm going to complete the project (as much as any garden project is ever complete) with some awesome little alpines from Gowanus Nursery, which recently moved to my neighborhood. It seems like alpines ought to do rather well in Brooklyn's sun-baked streetside gardens.

Leave it to me to comment on shoes in a garden blog, but I LOVE the Chinese slippers you're wearing in the sedum pic! Can't wait to get a new pair when I come up in May...

Heh, I love this side of your relationship with Brandon. No more cylinders! No cinderblocks! And you just shrug and do what you want. Hee hee. This is the secret to a happy life together.

I have enjoyed your pictures! Such lovely shots. I was wondering...I just purchased Amethyst Snow Bachelor's Buttons which I noticed you grow as well....does yours flop too? As I said, I just purchased it and I'm quite uncertain what to do with it. It looked great at the garden center, but after it was planted it began to flop.

It's difficult to advise without seeing your plant. First, make sure your are watering your new plant thoroughly. Soak it well several times then allow to drain. If it still flops, cut back the floppy pieces one at a time and let the plant grow back from the base.

Simple language, concise blog! Another style! I like! This is why your blog is one of the few I read that I also ever bother to comment on. I don't do it to hear myself talk - I do it because I know you actually listen.
