I think the first two photos are not bees but mimic flies.

I think the "yellow jacket" is actually a cicada killer wasp/hornet. I get them here in my garden as well. They're huge!

Check out http://bugguide.net/, a great resource for photo identification of insects and other critters. One of my favorite nature blogs is Bev Wigney's Burning Silo, http://magickcanoe.com/blog. I've learned a lot from her blog, and she has amazing insect photography.
